This is the HX63 (HX-63) ‘Super Rotor’ cipher machine by Crypto AG of Zug, Switzerland. I have seen one other example myself, in the most excellent ARITHMEUM cipher exhibit at the University of Bonn (visits highly recommended). The HX63 was built around 1963 to operate on 220/110/12 volts and finished in a light ‘crackle’ paint finish. This is superb, in excellent condition and worthy of any collection. Is it rare? Only 12 known to have been made - thus it is VERY rare. Don’t miss this opportunity, you are unlikely to get another chance this century. Good luck with your bidding. Buyer pays actual postage / shipping and insurance, worldwide. More to come soon. Schlüsselgerät, super rotor, letztes mechanisches gerät, Vorserie, nicht in Serie gegangen, nur ca. 12 Stk. Gebaut worden. Sehr Seltenes Sammlerstück. This is not MY German!) (Keywords: Enigma, Boris Hagelin, NEMA, Secret Communications, Militaria, M209, M-209, M209B, M-209B, Chiffrier maschine, cold war, Signals Intelligence) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Feb-03-02 at 04:53:24 PST, seller added the following information: Firstly, I was just informed the Arithmeum exhibit has been removed - sad news - whether this is permanent or temporary I do not know. Secondly, there is information / a claim that this machine provided the most powerful algorithm of any rotor-based machine made. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1070328198 Starting bid: $1,000.00 (reserve) (jalex-uk) Ending price: $9,976.54 (reserve not yet met) (mckoss) Auction ends: Feb-12-02 10:38:37 PST [This message has been edited by CodaSaurus (edited March 15, 2002).] IP: Logged |
